[Gamemaker] Curious game jam(CGJ)

link: https://thinkingdarusik.itch.io/star-invaders I made this for the Curious Game Jam. It closely missed 3rd place, which was the highest score I’ve gotten so far and I’m pretty happy with it. Also, I believe this is the first time I had a proper background music in the game. The challenge was finding the proper balance for the enemy spawns, but that turned out to be the only negative feedback during the rating period, so I would have to play more bullet hell games to improve that part. ...

[Gamemaker] line of sight system (like the one in among_us)

contact me at [email protected] link Seems like a game called ‘among us’ is popular these days. I was impressed by the vision system they were using. Turns out you can do it in Gamemaker too!

[Gamemaker] GMTK game jam

I made “The Emu Wars” for the GMTK game jam. It was a simple point and shoot game inspired by the old flash game I used to play as a kid. But the Emu part was the unexpected trouble for me. As I always mention, I have confidence in coming up with ideas, solving problems and programming. But the arch enemy of my gamemaking journey is the art part of it. So when I had to draw and animate an emu, that took me more than 8 hours and didn’t even meet my standards. In my opinion, a game’s looks takes up at least half of the game’s quality, so I was not satisfied and took it down after the jam. ...

[Gamemaker] United Game jam(UGJ)

link: https://thinkingdarusik.itch.io/two-sailors This was my second game jam entry and did 63rd out of 284. Which is not bad since it is technically top 22%. The main challenge was making the fishing line. in Gamemaker, a curved line, especially a dynamic one is pretty troublesome to make, so I had to spend most of my time making that. In the end, people liked the concept and gave me a good score on innovation. However it was criticized on the design(art), which I knew would happen, but couldn’t do anything about it. ...

[Gamemaker studio] 100 minute game jam

This was my first jam and it went horribly… 100 minutes is a hard time even for a veteran and I didn’t know what I was getting into. I spent too much time brainstorming and had debug collision squares all over the screen in the submission. Overall, I just consider it as my first step towards the next jam. ...

[Gamemaker studio] Making a twitch bot with Gamemaker studio 2

I made a twitch chatbot using gamemaker studio 2. I’m using it on my stream so you can check it out when I go live! One of my many philosophies is ’every program is a form of a game’. I applied this philosophy to this project and used Gamemaker to make a chatbot. Since then however, I’ve made a new one using node.js for futureproofing and other utility reasons. ...
